Procrastination to Productivity

April 15th was tax day. Did you get your taxes in early motivated by a potential refund? Or did you wait until the last minute to mail away your forms to the government? As the daughter of a CPA, I was sure to finish my taxes months ago; however, I still fall prey to my own putting things off tendencies.

Case in point: did you notice that I am sending this note to you on a Friday rather than my usual Thursday UPdate day? And I love writing these emails but procrastination got the best of me yesterday. We all procrastinate in different ways for different reasons. But the result is the same in that we end up feeling more pressured, stressed and often upset with ourselves for falling behind.

My encouragement to you today is to be honest about what you are putting off doing. Whether it is a task, a conversation you have been waiting to have, or a project you have been trying to complete for months, commit to focusing your attention toward moving out of procrastination and into productivity.

Carve time out of your day away from all distractions and as Nike says, just do it. No more excuses, no more dilly dallying around. You’ve already expended enough energy thinking about whatever it is that is hanging over your head. And the more it hangs there, the heavier it becomes. So get to it. I promise, you’ll feel much better when you do.

The best way to get something done is to begin.

Fondly,
Christine
