WITH CHRISTINE HASSLER

Servant of Peace

Like you I suspect, there have been times in my life where I’ve felt like I needed some extra support and encouragement. And there have been times when I craved more understanding. And of course there have even been times where I’ve doubted, lost sight of hope, and experienced a longing for love. We all have our story and personal journey of challenges. But here is what I know to be true from my own experience and what I have been privileged to witness in my clients, readers and friends. As we grow, heal and come into the experiential awareness that we are full of infinite love, potential, and possibility, something springs forth from inside. We are inspired to give more, love more, and do more from a service rather than results orientated perspective. We begin to shift out of fear and into faith. We begin to see more of the “we” than the “me.”

Today I want to share with you one of my very favorite prayers, the Prayer of St Francis Assisi, that captures the essence of what I am trying to share in such a beautiful way. No matter what your religious or spiritual beliefs are, I invite you to read this prayer with an open mind and take it in with an open heart.

“Lord make me an instrument of thy peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen”

Imagine if your only job in life was to be a servant of peace? If in everything you did you focused on love, pardon, faith, hope, light and joy. And in every interaction you had with yourself and others, you consoled, understood, loved, gave and pardoned. I encourage you to try it on by reciting this prayer aloud every day. You will be moved by not only the blessing you are, but the blessings you receive. (And download the song Servant of Peace by Snatam Kaur, at around 3:40 you will hear this prayer sung in the most beautiful way!!!). I’d love to hear about your experience with the St. Francis prayer so please email me and share!

With love from your humble servant of peace,
Christine
