WITH CHRISTINE HASSLER

Have you ever been high?

I just got back from our extraordinary spiritual adventure retreat for 14 women in Costa Rica.  It was absolutely magical – the women who came showed up ready to do deep work AND have a ton of fun.  We zip-lined through the jungle, surfed in the warm water, hiked in the tropical heat, meditated, danced, practiced yoga, and ate the most delicious food.  And of course there were the processes and coaching that opened the door for each women to expose what she wanted to let go of, step into receiving, claim her dreams, forgive, and get support. The breakthroughs that occurred were miraculous . . .

And each woman who attended left completely HIGH.

We experience a high whenever we let go of all the judgments and limiting beliefs that are holding us back.  We feel high when we release pent up feelings of anger and sadness. And we get high after we spend quality time with like-minded courageous souls who witness and join us.  Leaving any retreat or workshop on a high is a natural and common result.  It feels incredible until…

The concern sets in about the high going away.

Maintaining the high that is often created after a huge breakthrough is a rather unreasonable expectation.  The fear about “losing it” is natural but trust there is nothing to lose.  All experiences that you have had are YOURS. It may seem like they were ignited by something outside of you however anytime you have felt a high it is because you ignited something inside of you.

Personal growth is not a linear process; it’s actual more of a spiral.  Once we have a breakthrough that catapults us forward that does not necessarily mean we won’t ever be triggered or feel challenging feelings again.   As we grow, heal and move forward in our consciousness, it’s natural to take a few steps to the side or even backwards.

Highs are wonderful – and can be addicting.  Use breakthroughs you have had as reference points for what is possible for you to experience rather than as a standard to set for yourself.  Feeling a high is a wonderful experience, but our experience as humans is about contrast.  We learn from moving through the highs and the lows.  An intention to set for yourself in terms of an internal experience to create on a consistent basis, it would be one of equanimity.  Equanimity means that despite what is happening, you feel a sense of peace inside.

If you have gotten high, know that you will never return to the perceived low you felt before. Have faith in your process and your natural capability to keep moving forward on your path.  Continue to acknowledge yourself for lovingly showing up for yourself.  We are all on an amazing journey as spiritual warriors – it does not always feel easy as we navigate life’s highs and lows but if we remember to use everything in life for our learning, growth and upliftment it’s easier to see the miracles and blessings.

Sending you all much love and a heart-felt thank you to the 14 absolutely inspiring and magical women who joined me in Costa Rica.

Love,

Christine
