Happy New Day!

There is a lot of build up to the beginning of a New Year, especially this year as 2009 was particularly challenging for many. Add to that all the hoopla about the full moon and blue moon on New Year’s Eve and the message to set big intentions because 2010 is going to be so different and fabulous. Be here we are: January 7th 2010 and perhaps you’re noticing that 2010 feels a lot like 2009 and wondering, “Where is the different and fabulous?”

Please don’t be discouraged! Unless you’re Cinderella, it’s unreasonable to expect that “poof!” everything should have changed at the stroke of midnight on Dec 31st. Give yourself and your intentions for the New Year some time to manifest and develop. It is an unrealistic to expect your life to be different just because you are writing a new date on your checks. Have patience, faith and keep co-creating your year by taking small, do-able action steps each day to release the old or outdated and move closer to your goals, dreams, and ways of being that you want to cultivate.

And if you are feeling a bit of a Holiday Hangover, remember that we are in a transition time right now – from the holi-daze season back into day-to-day life. You may be coming down from a holiday high and/or still processing any triggers that may have happened after time with family, spending the holidays alone, or having a less than ideal New Year’s celebration. If you are feeling a bit “blah” my encouragement is to do something that shifts your energy and brings you into the present. The best way to do this is to engage in a creative and/or movement based activity that lights you up such as dancing, singing, painting, spending time outside, and so on. Release the hangover and shift into a state of excitement and curiosity about what will unfold in your life.

EVERY day is a brand new day. EVERY day is a new beginning. January 1st is not the only day to set intentions; you did not miss your window! I guarantee 2010 will be different for you – how it will be different depends on how differently you look at yourself, your life and the people and things in it. So are you willing to UPdate the lens in which you look through?

Happy New Day!

Fondly,

May my mind come alive today
to the invisible geography
that invites me to new frontiers,
to break the dead shell of yesterdays,
to risk being disturbed and changed.

May I have the courage today
to live the life that I would love,
to postpone my dream no longer
but do at last what I came here for
and waste my heart on fear no more.
