When things get crazy, do this!

I’ve heard from so many people over the past two weeks about situations that have them throwing their hands in the air and saying, “What the heck is going on??” Break-ups, communication and technology breakdowns, illness, and unexpected challenges seemed contagious. Perhaps we can blame it on Mercury being in retrograde (which thankfully ended on March 17th but doesn’t it always feel like Mercury is in retrograde?!?!).

Today I have two things you can do when things get crazy . . .

First, is to realize the gift that craziness brings. When everything is going peachy in our lives, it’s easier to keep a positive outlook, choose affirming thoughts, and trust in the Universe. During good times we can look around and say, “Wow, things are in such flow. I’m really rocking it and basking in the results of all the work I’ve done. Life is good!” But it’s when the sh*t hits the fan that we REALLY have an incredible opportunity to see how far we’ve come in our growth.

How you respond to the not-so-good times is an even better reflection of how far you’ve come in your growth (keep reading as I share a powerful meditation that will support being peaceful in the midst of a storm). By peaceful I don’t mean that you aren’t going to have emotions. You deserve to express your feelings when it feels like life is handing you a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Just don’t sit in them too long and become a victim.  And don’t remain in such righteousness that you stop trusting the Divine plan.

I too had my share of challenges over the past two weeks and I am incredibly grateful for the chance to walk my talk. Even in the midst of a lot of stress, I remained kind to myself, kept up my meditation practice, took responsibility for my inner experience, and leaned more into love.

Next, something I teach my clients and practice frequently in the midst of stress is a meditation process I call “I am / I let go.” It’s a very simple process that I demonstrate in the video.

Here’s a simple overview: on your inhale, inwardly state an “I am” statement that is affirming and anchors you in truth. And on your exhale, inwardly state “I let go of” and follow it with something you’d like to release. For instance: “I am love, I let go of fear. I am safe, I let go of worry. I am peace, I let go of anxiety. I am loved, I let go of rejection.” And so on.  To keep it even simpler, you can just say, “I am. I let go.”  You’ll find your own rhythm and the words that resonate and create the experiential shifts for you. Do this for ten minutes.

This particular meditation is helpful because during crazy times, our minds tend to go a little crazy. Our thoughts can feel like they are racing – and usually on tracks that are headed to nowhere. Practicing this mantra meditation helps to slow your mind down and affirm you in the truth of who you are.

So when things get crazy in your life can you…

See the gift in the midst of a challenge?

Recognize your opportunity to respond differently?

Will you…

Choose love over fear?

Engage in proactive self-care over reactive stress?

Don’t let your external circumstances rob you of the peace, calm, and love that are your natural state. No matter what is happening, remember you are loved, you are safe, and Spirit has your back.

Love,

Christine
